FOUR persons were arrested and a firearm and quantities of ammunition and cannabis seized by officers of the Central Division, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Chaguanas district on Wednesday.
During the exercise, Task Force officers of Area North of the CD, proceeded to the Enterprise, Longdenville and Chaguanas districts between 11 am and 3 pm, on Wednesday.
Acting on information received, the officers conducted an extensive search in the Enterprise area in the vicinity of a bridge, which resulted in the discovery of one revolver loaded with one round of ammunition.
Meanwhile, four male suspects all of the Central Division, were arrested for possession of varying quantities of cannabis.
And, an inmate of the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca, has been charged with Possession of Prohibited Articles.
Echeverria Sandy, was charged with the offence when the matter was heard before Master Margaret Sookraj-Goswami, in the High Court on Wednesday 18th December, 2024.
The matter was adjourned to January 3rd, 2025, when the accused would be commanded by writ to appear in court. The charge stems from a joint search operation conducted at the Prison on October 8th, 2024, during which quantities of cannabis and cigarettes were discovered in a cell.
