A CUNUPIA businessman who was kidnapped by men dressed in police uniforms on October 12 was released on Tuesday night. He was found in the Cunupia area, police said.
Reports indicated that he was taken to a private medical facility on the East-West Corridor, where he was examined, medically cleared, and released.
Around 7.10 pm on October 27, 33-year-old Ramnarine was at a bar near his home when men dressed in black with the word “POLICE” on their short-sleeved jerseys took him at gunpoint. He was taken into a black Hyundai Tucson with blue flashing lights.
One of the kidnappers drove off in Ramnarine’s Prado, which was later found abandoned the next day at Corra Road, off Chin Chin Road, Cunupia.
A $3 million ransom was demanded for his safe return. Police did not reveal if any ransom was paid.
Ramnarine is the owner of Cosura, suppliers of restaurant and bar equipment.
