FIVE inmates at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca have tested positive for Tuberculosis (TB).
The Prison Service said they were taken to the Caura Medical Facility for treatment and Welfare Officers have been assign to contact the families of the prisoners.
The areas where they were housed were sanitised and continuous testing and screenings are being conducted, the Prison Service stated.
It stated the acting Commissioner of Prisons Dennis Pulchan has commended his officers on the professional manner in handling the situation and has given assurance that it is being managed and monitored.
