Fire Station Tools Recovered: 2 Arrested

PRINCES Town Police have arrested two men on connection with stolen fire service equipment.

Officers recovered tools and equipment in connection with a report of warehouse breaking and larceny at the Princess Town Fire Station. The men were arrested on Friday.

According to a police report around 1.30pm on October 1, 2024, a quantity of tools and other equipment were secured at the compound of the Princes Town Fire Station. 

Around 2.50 am on Friday, a Fire Officer went to the Princes Town Fire Station and discovered the compound broken into and a quantity of tools and equipment missing. 

A report was made to the police and Cpl Rampersad of the Princess Town Police Station visited the scene. 

Acting on intelligence a team of officers proceeded to a residence located on Charlotte Street, Princes Town, where on arrival, they observed a burgundy coloured Nissan Almera vehicle parked along the roadway.

Cpl Rampersad and party also observed three men at the location. Upon seeing the officers, one of the suspects ran away. 

The officers gave chase, however, the suspect ran into a bushy area and escaped. The officers on returning to the vehicle observed the following items in the yard on the northern side of the house:

  • Five black concrete buckets;
  • seven stanley crow bars;
  • five yellow stanley bow saws;
  • three pickaxes, 
  • four sledge hammers; 
  • two axes, 
  • six bolt cutters;
  • 15 cutlasses; 
  • Three pitchforks; 
  • Ten shovels; and 
  • Two hand saws.

When the officers searched the vehicle they found a cutlass and a Track battery in the trunk of the vehicle. 

The items were positively identified as the property of the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service.

The two suspects were arrested and taken to the Princes Town Police Station together with the seized motor vehicle.
