THE political party being led by Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Chief Secretary Farley Augustine has been officially named.
The name the Tobago People’s Party was decided upon on Monday when Augustine and his team met with supporters and a vote was conducted for the naming of the country’s newest political party.
Augustine said the name was chosen by an “overwhelming vote.”
On April 3, Augustine launched the process of establishing the process of a building a new political party that would be ready to contest the next elections.
The new party has been formed following Augustine’s breakaway from the Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP) under whose banner he was elected and selected as THA’s Chief Secretary in 2021.
The THA executive also resigned from the PDP and are in support of Augustine.
