THE Ministry of Health is recalling N- CORT 40 mg/mL., Ml Intravitreal/ Intraocular Use (Triamcinolone Acetonide Injection Bp), Batch No NC-O2 with Expiry Date March 2022, due to possible bacterial contamination.
A release stated that the product of Nischi Lifesciences b141/142 Mahagujarat Indl. Estate, Moraiya, Ahmedabad-382213 (India) is primarily used by specialist ophthalmologists or eye specialists.
It stated, “While Triamcinolone Acetonide Injection BP is not registered in Trinidad and Tobago, it would have been brought into country via parallel illegitimate importation channels. The Chemistry Food and Drugs Division of the Ministry of Health has already seized stocks of this drug from the supplier.”
The Ministry stated any consumers who have this drug in their possession are strongly advised to refrain from use and contact the Chemistry Food and Drugs Division via (868) 623-5242 and 800-2333.
It called on pharmacies and medical supply companies must cease the sale of this drug and inform the Chemistry Food and Drugs Division.
All patients and physicians who may have used this drug should contact the office of the Chief Medical Officer – (868) 627-0014 ext 1616, the Ministry stated.
