This tournament has been very lucky for France. They have played unconvincing football and still they have managed to reach the quarter finals. Jan Vertonghen own goal in the 85th minute gave France a lucky break and the win to move on against an improving Belgian side.
Kylian Mbappe was not sportsmanlike by taunting Vertonghen while celebrating and the fans were not too happy to see this behaviour. France will face the lucky Portuguese in the quarter finals.
Portugal 3 penalties vs 0 penalties Slovakia
In a game where both teams should have won before penalties neither Portugal nor Slovakia had the finishing to win in extra time. Diego Costa was the real hero saving three out of three penalties for Portugal. Bernado Silva scored the kick that won the encounter but only after the magical Costa had ensured victory.
Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty in the first half of extra time that saw him break down into tears and Benjamin Sesko missed a great opportunity to win the game but failed to beat Costa.
