ERLA Harewood-Christopher is officially the first woman Commissioner of Police of Trinidad and Tobago.
A release from the Police Serice Commission (PolSC) on Friday stated, “The Police Service Commission has promoted Mrs Erla Harewood-Christopher to the office of Commissioner of Police, Trinidad and Tobago Police Service with effect from 3rd February, 2023.
“The Commission today (Friday 10 February 2023) presented Mrs Erla Harewood-Christopher with her letter of promotion to the office.”
After her receiving her official documents at the PolSC officer at the corner of Pasea Main Road and the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway, Tunapuna, she only had brief words for the media personnel who were present. She said she felt “blessed and great” about being the first woman top cop of T&T.
All five members of the PolSC – Chairman retired Justice Judith Jones and members Maxine Attong, Maxine King, Rajiv Persad and Ian Ramdhanie – were all present for the brief ceremony that lasted about 30 minutes.
