LEEDS, England, CMC – Barbados-born all-rounder Jacob Bethell put in a solid performance for England, but it couldn’t prevent Australia from winning the second One Day International by 68 runs here on Saturday.
The 20-year-old accounted for the wickets of Mitchell Marsh for 60 and Marnus Labuschagne, who made 19, to end with figures of 2-33 from his five overs, as Australia were dismissed for 270 from 44.4 overs.
Bethell then returned with the bat to score 25 from 35 deliveries in England’s total of 202 all out from 40.2 deliveries.
It followed his 35 from 34 balls in the opening ODI, which Australia also won by seven wickets.
The result means Australia now holds a commanding 2-0 lead in the best of five series.
The third ODI is slated for Chester-le-Street on Tuesday.
