I did call this one correct and predicted a victory for Uruguay. It should have been an easy victory but the wasteful Edison Cavani and Luis Suárez seemed unable to just poke the ball into the net. It took an own goal from the Bolivian goal keeper Carlos Lampe – the best player of the match who pulled off some nearly impossible saves.
Cavani doubled the lead in the 70th minute and was his first goal for country since November 2020. You would have expected the likes of Cavani and Suarez to be on top of the game and score those easy goals.
Uruguay had 22 shots at goal with seven on target, at least five should have been in the net. Bolivia had only four shots and three were on target. It was a very easy night for the Uruguayan goal keeper.
Chile 0 vs Paraguay 2

Many would have thought that Chile would have won this game but they were soundly beaten and outplayed. Goals by Brian Samudio in the 33rd and Miguel Almiron in the 58th gave Paraguay a well-deserved win. This leaves Chile with the possibility of facing Brazil in the next round.
Even though Chile dominated with 69% possession they were unable to convert it into any goals. Chile had five shots at goal but only one was on target.
Chile will qualify for the next round but must improve if they want to go forward.
Again, Copa takes a break and action will resume on Sunday.
