PORT-OF-SPAIN – POLICE have sent a file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions regarding comments made by Public Service Association President Watson Duke.
Duke who has been in custody since Monday is facing a charged under the Sedition Act for statements he made last November, police sources said.
Police arrested him at his Abercromby office and also searched his One Woodbrook Place apartment that same day.
On November 16, 2018, reacting to layoffs at TSTT and a prediction by the Communications Workers Union that more job cuts were to take place at TTEC and WASA, Duke said, “We must be prepared to die, folks. You know why? This is your belife. This is your family. And I am sending the message clear, let Rowley them know that the day they come for us in WASA, we are prepared to die and the morgue would be picking up people.”
Duke is being detained at the Besson Street Police Station.
