PEDESTRIANS are being asked to find alternative routes or exercise extreme caution when using the Chandernagore Walkover.
The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, in a media release on Friday, stated that structural issues were identified in the Chandernagore Walkover, located in the vicinity of Seereeram Bros Ltd, near the Chase Village Overpass, along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway.
The ministry stated, “In light of its present condition, pedestrians are encouraged to consider alternative safe options, where possible.”
“Those who must use the structure are strongly urged to exercise the highest degree of caution and walk at the edge of the surface and not in the centre when crossing,” they cautioned.
The ministry acknowledged the walkover was essential for pedestrian connectivity between Chandernagore and Carlsen Field, as the only designated crossing point in the area.
“As such, the Ministry is actively assessing the situation and will initiate emergency repairs in the shortest time frame,” it stated.
