PRINCE Harry and his wife Meghan Markle will be assisting in feeding nationals of Dominica and Puerto Rico.
The couple has partnered with World Central Kitchen (WCK), an organisation that offers aid to countries hit by natural disasters.
Bloomberg reported that Prince Harry and Markle will be funding four “Community Relief Centers” which will begin as service kitchens in emergency situations and will later on be used as schools, clinics, and community centres.
The first such centres will open in Dominica and Puerto Rico, both of which suffered immense damage due to Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
WCK was founded ten years ago by Chef José Andrés and has provided millions of meals across 17 countries to date.
In a statement to Bloomberg, the couple stated, “The health of our communities depends on our ability to connect to our shared humanity.
“When we think about Chef Andrés and his incredible team at World Central Kitchen, we’re reminded that even during a year of unimaginable hardship, there are so many amazing people willing and working tirelessly to support each other. World Central Kitchen inspires us through compassion in action.”
They are hoping to encourage more partners to join with WCK to build more Community Relief Centers.
The couple has also promised to visit the completed centres upon completion and after the pandemic has passed.
