ALL rounder Dwayne Bravo leaves the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and will be playing with the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the 2021 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
A release from TKR on Friday stated that Bravo made the request and it agreed that he will be traded for wicketkeeper/batsman Denesh Ramdin.
Bravo said, “At this stage in my career, I need a new challenge, which is to work with young talent for the benefit of Cricket West Indies.
“Also becoming part of a new franchise SKPN will provide me with a new challenge in CPL.”
He thanked TKR for respecting his wishes.
Bravo added, “I also appreciate everything they have done for Trinidad and Tobago in general.”
Director of TKR Venky Mysore said, “DJ Bravo has been instrumental in not only building TKR into a champion team but also captained the team which earned three championships in 2015, 2017 and 2018.
“We are sad to see him leave but we respect his wishes and his desire to help Caribbean cricket.”
Kieron Pollard retains the captaincy he has held for the past two seasons and will be joined by Sunil Narine as vice-captain for TKR.
The 2021 edition of the Hero CPL takes place in St Kitts and Nevis from August 28. The competition will have 33 games.
TKR are the defending champions.
