DO not procrastinate but vaccinate.
This was the message from Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh in another appeal to the population to protect themselves against the Covid-19 virus on Sunday.
He strongly stated, “Get vaccinated and get vaccinated now.”
He made the appeal while visiting the Supermarkets Association of Trinidad and Tobago (SATT) mass vaccination site at Centre Pointe Mall in Chaguanas.
SATT has been pioneering the private sector mass vaccination and has now opened up its vaccinations to the public.
Deyalsingh asked, “How many of you want to have a third year of no Easter? How many of you want to have a year of no Divali? How many of you want to have a third year of no weddings, no birthday parties, no anniversary parties? How many of you want to have a second year of no Christmas?”
He added, “Those are the simple things that we miss and I miss it.”
SATT’s President Rajiv Diptee echoed Deyalsingh’s call.
He said, “We have done everyone. We have been able to show vaccine equity. We have vaccinated the deaf, the dumb and the blind just earlier this week. We show compassion for everyone who wants to get a vaccine. Once you want a vaccine, you can access through the Supermarket Association in Trinidad and Tobago. We have made it available to all of you.”
Diptee said the vaccination drive was SATT’s way of showing gratitude to all who utilises the services provided by the members of SATT.
By the time the vaccination site was ready to close down the vaccination operations, Diptee said some 50,000 persons would have been vaccinated at the mall there will be a “conversation of consolidation” when that occurs.
He thanked the managers of the mall for allowing the use of the property.
SATT also shares the vaccination site space with the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago (DATT) who in collaboration with other non-governmental organisations have been able to vaccinate persons with comorbidities and other types of ailments.
