Speaking at the Prime Minister’s press conference, Deyalsingh also revealed that 1,086,000 were administered and there was a balance of 712,938.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley in another attempt to encourage the population to get vaccinated, said there remained almost 400,000 people who could get vaccinated if they choose to, given the variety of vaccines available at the many locations throughout the country.

Dr Rowley also announced that once the World Health Organization (WHO) sanctions approval for a Covid-19 vaccine that can be administered to children five years and over, it will be sourced for the local population.

Dr Rowley said, “Approaches have been made with good results being shown in the scientific circles for treatment of children, five and over and once that approval is sanctioned by the WHO, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago will as we have done before, accept such an authorisation, as useful.

“The government of Trinidad and Tobago will make efforts to get that vaccine for our children and such a vaccine will be added to the list of vaccines for children which we have grown up with because it is the same response.”

He emphasised, “Let us get that clear from now. All those who are into conspiracy theories and all those who have an issue with the vaccine because they don’t like the manner in which it came to us and so on, that policy is very clear.”

And the Prime Minister said within the next coming days once Covid-19 cases continued to plateau, Government will consider re-opening beaches and certain sporting activities in the next phased re-opening.
