JUST like good will triumph over evil, the professionalism of the healthcare workers will put an end to Covid-19.
This according to Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh when he visited the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility on Divali on Thursday.
Speaking to some staff he said, “In this season where light triumphs over darkness where good triumphs over evil and with your continued support and professionalism we would triumph over the virus Covid-19. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”
A release from the Ministry of Health stated that Deyalsingh visted doctors, nurses and other medical staff at the Covid-19 wards in the Couva Hospital.
Also present were the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Davlin Thomas and other senior representatives of the North Central Regional Health Authority.
During this visit, the minister expressed his appreciation to frontline workers at all levels, who have contributed their time and skills, at great sacrifice, to treat Covid-19 patients with care and diligence at the facility, the release stated.
The release stated that Deyalsingh wished the healthcare team happy Divali and encouraged them to continue to represent light over darkness for their patients.
It stated, “The Ministry of Health continues to provide the resources needed to support the significant efforts of healthcare workers who operate in various facets of public health during this pandemic. The national response to the Covid-19 pandemic is people-centred, collaborative and science-driven.
“Members of the public are therefore encouraged to be vaccinated as soon as possible as this can reduce serious illness and hospitalizations due to Covid-19, which in turn will reduce the strain on our frontline healthcare workers.
“The vaccine is free and available at all health centres and mass vaccination sites throughout the country. For reliable and accurate information on the National Covid-19 response please visit www.health.gov.tt. Don’t Delay, Get Vaccinated Today!”
