REGARDLESS of political alliance, healthcare will be treated with equity across the two islands of Trinidad and Tobago, says Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh.
On Saturday, Deyalsingh said, “I continue as Minister of Health of T&T to be quite willing to work with anyone, anywhere, anytime in the interest of T&T.”
Deyalsingh was speaking at the Ministry of Health’s Covid-19 update.
After the Tobago House of Assembly THA general election on Monday in which the People’s National Movement (PNM) lost in a resounding defeat, two Facebook posts began circulating on social media posted on a page PNM St. Joseph Constituency.
Deyalsingh is the PNM Member of Parliament for that electoral district and has distanced himself from the creators of the page.
One post stated that Tobago will never be forgiven for choosing the winning Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP) whose main colour is green, with another post stating that green reminds him of vomit.
“That Facebook post attributed to me is a fake profile put up by a social media activist. I think the population knows me, I do not engage in that type of politics,” the minister said.
He said the Facebook posts were crafted in the same manner in which there was a fake photo of him jet-skiing was put out by a well-known Opposition social media activist several months ago.
Deyalsingh described the posts as “political mischief.”
