HEALTH Minister Terrence Deyalsingh errs in his statements that Tobago is producing its own oxygen supply at two facilities.
Acting Medical Chief of Staff at the Scarborough General Hospital Dr Victor Wheeler said on Thursday such information was incorrect and oxygen was being produced at one facility – the Scarborough General Hospital.
He was speaking during the Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development press conference.
On Monday, Deyalsingh in Parliament said there was no oxygen shortage in the country and that Tobago was producing its own oxygen at two facilities, the Scarborough General Hospital and in Roxborough.
Dr Wheeler said, “The Roxborough hospital does not produce oxygen. That information was provided in error to the Minister of Health to make that statement. The Roxborough hospital has a bank of cylinders. The oxygen produced for those cylinders are produced at the Scarborough General Hospital.”
He added that he will have to get further information of the actual oxygen capacity.
