THE Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has delayed its 2022 examinations for three weeks.
This according to Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of CXC Dr Wayne Wesley at a virtual briefing on the administration of 2022 Regional Examinations on Wednesday.
Students will now commence their examinations on Monday May 23 instead of May 2.
Dr Wesley said at a special meeting of the CXC Council on Wednesday, its members reached a consensus on the 2022 examinations.
He said, “The Council recognises the impact of Covid-19 on the education system in general and more specifically on the schedule of CXC’s Regional Examinations.”
Dr Wesley added results were projected to be released in late August or early September, in which details would be determined accordingly.
In addition, the extension of submission of School-Based Assessments (SBA) from June 30 has been further extended by two weeks for the submission of the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) SBAs.
He added the broad topics to be assessed on Paper 2 would be communicated to the candidates through the Ministries of Education.
Dr Wesley said, “We continue to work with stakeholders in the best interest of students across the region.”
