PROFESSOR Selwyn Cudjoe is now the new Chairman of the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT).

Cudjoe will lead the new board for a period of three years. He is also serving on the board of Caribbean Airlines.

He was issued his letter of appointment on Friday by the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training (MTEST) at the Education Towers, Port of Spain along with the other members.

The new Board of Governors of UTT includes:

•           Professor Selwyn R Cudjoe – Chairman

•           Professor Chris Maharaj – Deputy Chairman

•           Dr Fazal Ali

•           Dr Shivannand Maharaj

•          Valene Maharaj

•           Shastri Parsad

•           Amit Sooknanan

•           Liaquat Ali Shah

•           Steve Oudit

•           Sherine Janglee-Mungal

•           Christine Bann

•           Dr Esther E Cruickshank

•           Indar Kanhai

Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training Prakash Persad in congratulating the new board, encouraged collective responsibility and collegiality.

He said, “UTT is about mixing different talents together and becoming a catalyst for the economic development of Trinidad and Tobago.”

Also in attendance were MTEST’s Parliamentary Secretary Hansen Narinesingh and permanent secretary Kurt Meyer.

The ministry stated it looked forward to working with the new board members to secure the future of Trinidad and Tobago through higher education.
