THREE men have been arrested for being in possession of multiple credit cards suspected to be linked to fraudulent activity.
Reports are that on Friday around 11.30 am, officers on mobile patrol in the vicinity of the John John traffic lights stopped a white Range Rover Velar.
The vehicle contained three male occupants ages 26, 23 and 19 from Cokhor Drive, Longdenville, Happy Hill, Siparia and John Dulam Street, Aranguez.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 17 credit cards, each bearing different names. The occupants were unable to provide a reasonable explanation for possession of the items.
All three were arrested and handed over to the Fraud Squad for further investigation, a media release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated on Sunday.
Also on Friday, at approximately 10.25 am, while conducting a stop-and-search exercise along Morvant Old Road, PC Baboolal intercepted a white Nissan B15 and interviewed the driver, a 39-year-old man of Upper Irving Street, Petit Bourg, San Juan.
Checks conducted via the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) Joint Command revealed three outstanding TAC warrants on file in the Tobago Division. He was arrested, informed of the reason for his detention, and conveyed to the Morvant Police Station.
The Tobago Division Warrant Section was contacted and briefed on the arrest for further investigation.
And four key members of a known gang, were arrested following an intensive investigation led by the Port of Spain Gang Intelligence Unit (POSGIU) and the Port of Spain Task Force (POSTF).
The arrest stemmed from a violent attack on June 1 in which a Venezuelan national was reportedly attacked by individuals believed to be affiliated with a known gang in the Upper Davis Street, Belmont area.
The victim sustained serious injuries during the assault.
According to the TTPS, following diligent and coordinated investigative work, the suspects were arrested and formally charged for attempted Murder and Throwing of Corrosive Liquids with Intent to Cause Grievous Bodily Harm.
The investigation was spearheaded by Senior Superintendent Thom and Superintendent Nicholls, coordinated by Assistant Superintendents Soodeen and Mungroo, along with Inspector Durga.
Direct supervision was provided by Acting Sergeant St Bernard, with legal guidance from Acting Sergeant Smith.
The TTPS said further advice is currently being sought from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions regarding potential charges under the Anti-Gang Act.
PC Blades is continuing that investigation.
