A FIREARM, ammunition and drugs have been found in Diego Martin.
Police reported that the discovery was made on Sunday following a roving roadblock exercise in the North Central Division and an anti-crime exercise in the Western Division.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) in a media release on Sunday stated that between the hours of 5 pm on Saturday and 3 am on Sunday, officers of the Western Division Task Force executed a search warrant at a home located on Dillon Street, Diego Martin.
Officers allegedly discovered a brown-coloured handle bag containing six plastic-wrapped packages containing 3,207 grammes of marijuana as well as four rounds of .40 calibre ammunition in the ceiling of a bedroom.
Around 9.30 pm officers of the North Central Division Task Force – Area East, while proceeding north along Lopinot Road, observed a man with a black bag in his hand walking along the roadway. The man, upon seeing the officers, allegedly dropped the bag and ran into a bushy area nearby and escaped.
Officers retrieved the bag and allegedly discovered a firearm and three rounds of 12-gauge ammunition in it. Enquiries into both incidents are ongoing.
A 34-year-old man who was wanted in connection with larceny was arrested on Saturday.
Ron Belcon was arrested after he was allegedly caught during another housebreaking incident and was charged with Pavilion Breaking and Larceny.
He is the second suspect arrested in connection with the incident which took place on December 1 and is expected to appear at the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court on Monday, police stated.
According to reports, around 1.30 am on December 1, a bar proprietor secured his establishment located on Foster Road, Sangre Grande. He returned at 10 am the same day and discovered the place had been ransacked. Two bottles of whiskey, an assortment of cigarettes and $12,000 was also allegedly missing.
Investigations revealed two suspects allegedly breaking into the bar.
One suspect, Arcola Deary, 46 was arrested and charged on December 1 by WPC Joseph.
WPC Joseph and PCs Lezama and Budhooram continued investigations and learned that the second suspect was being detained at the Sangre Grande Police Station. He was subsequently charged with Pavilion Breaking.
Female street vendor charged
And two female street vendors who allegedly had an argument resulted in one being arrested.
Police reports state that a 57-year-old street vendor from Vistabella was arrested on Saturday after allegedly throwing a noxious substance at a fellow street vendor. According to reports, around 11.40 am on December, a street vendor was selling goods on High Street, San Fernando when she observed a woman, with whom she had recently had an argument, holding a black plastic bag.
The woman, who is also a street vendor, approached her and allegedly threw a yellow-coloured liquid in her face causing her face and eyes to burn.
She was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital.
The suspect was arrested for throwing a Noxious Substance with Intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm.
