Crime: Man Shot Dead, Women Dies in Accident

A 64-YEAR-OLD labourer is found burnt to death, a 22-year-old man was shot dead and a woman, 39, died in a vehicular accident on Tuesday.

Police reported that around 5.45pm, officers found a burnt body in a forested area, ½ mile off Warren Road, Rock River Village, Moruga.  On arrival, they saw  the body Jeffery Joefield of the same address, lying on the ground with chop wounds to his neck and head.

The body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James pending a post-mortem.

Enquiries revealed a report was made to the Moruga Police Station that Joefield’s burnt body  was found around 4.15pm. Joefield was last seen alive in the village at 6.15am on Monday.

Shooting in Arouca 

Police said that around 9.20 pm,  the informant was at his home when he heard several loud explosions from the back of his home. Checks were made and Secion Malchan, 22 was found suffering from a gunshot wound to his head. He was rushed to the Arima Hospital  by his uncle. He was pronounced dead on arrival. The crime scene was processed by SERU officers. Enquiries are continuing.

Malchan lived at Cato Terrace, Bon Air North, Windy Hill, Arouca.

Jumped in front of car

Police reported that at 7.55pm, the driver of  a yellow Nissan UD flatbed truck was proceeding in a westerly direction along the Eastern Main Road, Wallerfield, when on passing Peter Circular Road, he saw Cindy Blanc, 39, who was standing on the grass verge on the southern side of the roadway.

She  uddenly jumped into the path of the vehicle causing the driver to swerve away however, the vehicle came into contact with her causing her to fall on the edge of the roadway.

Blanc was taken to the Arima Health Facility however she was pronounced dead at 9:44pm.

Blanc lived at Cemetery Street, Heights of Guanapo, Arima.

WPC Hannibal of Northern Division CSI and  acting Sgt Metivier are continuing enquiries.
