MINISTER of Health Terrence Deyalsingh says Government was now trying to replace fear with information regarding the Covid-19 vaccine.
In responding to questions from the media at the Ministry of Health’s virtual presser on Wednesday, the minister said, “The Ministry of Health is engaging in robust communications.”
He said, “The Regional Health Authorities (RHAs) are running their ground campaigns, on the ground, door-to-door and with private sector with employees. We are dialoguing, answering questions, answering concerns and we are trying to replace fear with information. We are trying to build confidence, and this is the best practice we are seeing around the world without forcing people, without preaching to them. It’s about persuasion, encouraging.”
He stated that persons have more choices now with both the AstraZeneca and Sinopharm vaccines being available.
Deyalsingh described the process as easy and convenient with 109 health centres, nine mass vaccination sites in Trinidad and one in Tobago, four drive-thrus – three in Trinidad and one in Tobago.
“We are going to places of worship, outreach in community centres. Vaccines are now literally available within walking distance or short drop,” he said.
In addition, he stated that vaccines were also available through sentinel physicians and at private hospital.
