COVAX Vaccine Rollout Begins April 6

THE rollout of Covid-19 vaccines will start on Tuesday April 6, 2021.

This announcement was made by the Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh at a press conference hosted by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s on Saturday.

Deyalsingh said the vaccinations will take place at health centres across the country and will start with people who have non-communicable diseases and were part of out-patient clinics.

He said on other days people over 60 years will be able to get their vaccines by appointment only. He said they can sign up online or go to a health centre to get an appointment.

Deyalsingh said about 1,120 frontline workers were inoculated from the vaccines sent to Trinidad and Tobago from Barbados.

T&T will received 33,600 vaccines from COVAX next Tuesday.

The health minister said that there were 5,000 frontline healthcare workers who will be vaccinated in the first phase.

Dr Rowley said he knew that the country was Covid-19 weary but needed to reap rewards of the sacrifices they were making now.
