A Cunupia man and woman have been arrested in connection with the theft of over $22,000 worth of cable.
A press release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on Sunday stated that a 27-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman, both of Cunupia, were observed on Cipero Street, San Fernando, loading a quantity of cable belonging to the Telecommunication Service of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT) into the trunk of a vehicle.
Officers attached to the San Fernando Crime Patrol, who were conducting an exercise in the area, confronted and arrested the couple.
The estimated worth of the cable was $22,414.23.
Both suspects were expected to appear before a San Fernando High Court on Monday to be charged with larceny.
Meanwhile, officers of the Barrackpore Police Station conducted a roadblock and warrant exercise on July 12, between the hours of 6 am and 4 pm.
The exercise led to the arrest of four suspects for various offences:
- A 39-year-old labourer of Princes Town for Kidnapping
- A 45-year-old farmer of Barrackpore for Breach of Protection
- A 19-year-old labourer for Attempted Murder, and,
- A 33-year-old of Rio Claro on TAC Warrant.
Supt Rajkumar, ASP Bhandan and Insp Ragbir coordinated the operation.
