PORT-OF-SPAIN – A policeman has accidentally shot off his middle toe on his left foot when the police car he was in went over a speed bump.
Reports indicate that the officer was in a patrol vehicle on Tuesday morning at MovieTowne in Port-of-Spain.
Two other officers were in the vehicle and they were all armed with Galil rifles, pistols and ammunition.
The officers received a call around 1 a.m. of a gunman being spotted at a crime hotspot at Waterhole in Cocorite.
The officers sped off to respond to the report and along Hollywood Boulevard in the vicinity of the Marriot Hotel, the car hit a speed bump and the officer’s gun went off.
The officer was then taken to the St James Medical Facility and not to investigate the report of the gunman in Cocorite.
