If I am being honest, Commissioner of Police (for now), Erla Harewood-Christopher, always gave me the heebie-jeebies… something just doesn’t seem right with her.
You can’t tell if she’s a sweet church-going aunty or something else with that cold-eyed smile she often forces at peace pole unveilings.
Cheap shots aside, Harewood-Christopher has not lived up to expectations. On February 3, 2023, she became our country’s first female Commissioner of Police, she started her tenure with lofty plans and crime reduction targets.
Targets, she would later admit at a National Security Joint Select Committee when none of them were met, had been “a bit exaggerated.”
Between 2023 to 2025, under her leadership the only targets that seem to have been kept are those set by gang members and opportunist criminals, which now has us in this delightful little State of Emergency.
Let’s all be honest here; I really do not think anyone has had any confidence in Erla past February 4th, 2023. We went from her predecessor Gary Griffith, who was running around in tactical gear with the police and pushing for the advancement of crime-detecting technology to Harewood-Christopher giving us lectures on faith and the power of prayer.
Here’s the big difference between Griffith and Harewood-Christopher (in my opinion), Griffith, although favoured by the people, often butted heads with the government.
He was loud, abrasive, visible to the public and was always willing to engage with the media. Harewood-Christopher on the other hand… just sort of blends in with the wallpaper.
She doesn’t criticise the government, she isn’t overly friendly with the media, she isn’t publicly engaged. Most importantly… and again in my opinion… unlike Griffith, who himself was shrouded in controversy of his own, Harewood-Christopher does not, or did not appear to be a threat to the powers that be.
Until now! Ha! Ha!

On Thursday, Harewood-Christopher was detained for questioning in relation to the importation of two high-powered sniper rifles, and accessories for the Strategic Services Agency (SSA). The reason for this being of concern is that Harewood-Christopher allegedly signed off for the importation of these guns before the SSA had legal permission to bring them in.
So the question is, was or is Harewood-Christopher involved in the straight-big screen near-you, spy thriller “Secrets of the SSA and their alleged plot to overthrow the Government and build a militia armed to the teeth” or was Harewood-Christopher just inefficient and signed documents without asking questions, checking legislation, or even reading them…. frankly that’s scarier than the pastor and his cult alleged to have infiltrated the SSA.
Currently, she is facing charges of misbehaviour in public office. If charged she will be the second COP in our national history charged before the court of law, the first being the infamous Randolph Burroughs.
Regardless of the outcome, this scandal has continued the erosion of public confidence in those meant to uphold the law and protect us.
But, remember you are innocent until proven guilty in this country.
