IF Trinidad and Tobago borders are to be reopened it will be done on a phased basis.
This was revealed by Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram at the virtual news conference to update the population of efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Dr Parasram said, “Borders will generally have to be opened on a phased basis.
“Nationals versus non-nationals, possibly even by country, by region depending on the level of Covid in those particular territories.”
He said, “One measure we have is to, of course, use thermal screening at the airports.
“Another, more important measure is to have home quarantine, at least for persons returning for 14 days on arrival to ensure that we don’t have that co-mingling of that higher-risk group with our population and possibly state quarantine if we think someone is of very high risk.”
TT borders have been closed since March 23.
