MINISTER of Education Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly is wishing all Standard Five pupils the best as they write the important Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) today, (Wednesday, March 29, 2023).
Altogether 18,889 children are expected to write the exam this year with boys outnumbering girls – 9,591 boys and 9,298 girls.
In Trinidad, 9,051 boys and 8,783 girls are expected to write the SEA along with 540 boys and 515 girls in Tobago.
In a video message posted to the Ministry of Education’s Facebook page on Tuesday, Dr Gadsby-Dolly on behalf of fellow Minister in the Ministry Lisa Morris-Julian and the Ministry of Education, offered congratulations to the pupils, parents and teachers for having reached this milestone.
“It indeed is a life-changing experience,” Dr Gadsby-Dolly said.
To the pupils she said, “This is not the end. This is the start of a new journey into secondary school. And we at the Ministry of Education look forward to supporting your journey in education.
“Just go out there and do your best that’s all we can ask of you and that’s all we expect, your best is good enough, God bless you as you make this transition for your SEA examination.”
The Division of Education, Research and Technology in Tobago also wished their pupils the best.
The Division wished pupils clarity of thought, calmness of spirit and confidence in ability.
“May they stand firm in the knowledge that no matter what happens on examination day, the Creator is with them always!” it stated in a Facebook post.
Additionally, the Ministry of Education through its Student Support Services Division is embarking on an initiative to enhance the social relationships and information-sharing process among peers within and outside of the division by way of an eBook.

On Tuesday, the ministry posted the link to an E-book on SEA Preparation Tips – Parents and Students.
The SEA examination usually held on a Thursday was scheduled for Wednesday as the Spiritual Baptist Liberation Day public holiday takes place on Thursday.
