“Lord give strength to our frontline workers, soothe their hearts in this crazy time. I see their pain through their following tears, Lord, sweet Lord hear their prayers.” – Chris Garcia’s Hear Their Prayers
By Sue-Ann Wayow
ARTISTE Chris Garcia asks the Lord to hear the prayers of frontline workers in the fight against Covid-19.
He does so in his recently released song entitled Hear Their Prayers.
Garcia released the song last week and it is currently being played on local radio stations.
The song, a tribute to the frontline workers is a pore-raising, chilling, heartfelt cry of the dark reality of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Garcia told AZPNews.com that he hopes people hearing the song with be more compassionate to all the frontline workers including medical personnel as the battle against Covid-19 rages on.
He said, “I would hope that after hearing this particular song that the public would feel more empathy and show more appreciation for the frontline workers, it is vitally important.
“At this time more than ever, they need our fullest support and in my contribution and this song, I hope you feel the compassion that I am feeling and some small way convey a thank you, a God bless you, we are with you when next you see a uniform in the medical fraternity and others who are on the front line.”
Garcia, who last year composed a tribute to George Floyd who was killed by a white policemen in the US, said the coronavirus pandemic has given itself a name and has put the world on pause.
He could not help but make a contribution to the cause.
“This global pandemic has taken many lives and continues to do so. Today, I am abasing myself to the frontline workers, the medical workers who are putting themselves on the line to save our lives and all the footage and the snippets of news, I have seen and those throughout the social media of them crying, some dying, for those alive and pressing on and fighting on, it was inevitable that I would use my God-given talent to write something, to compose something for them,” he said.
And Hear Their Prayers was written.
Garcia said, “Hear Their Prayers was written with passion and I felt so much by writing it for these people.
“They are really soldiers defending us and looking at them and what they have been through, I was inspired to write this.”
The artist also said he has been coping well during the pandemic even though earnings have been affected as everyone else, however he has been adapting to suit the times. Persons should not feel they are alone in this he added.
Garcia said, “I do hope that when all this is over because this too shall pass that we all learn from all that has happened and be better off in the end, this great hope that we come out of this a better nation, a better people, a more loving and a more caring people.”
