THE Chinese Embassy has donated 150 food hampers to the Chaguanas Borough Corporation to distribute to the burgesses.
Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed said in a media release on Wednesday that the Embassy was the first to respond to the Corporation’s call for assistance from various organisations.
Mohammed expressed thanks to Chinese Ambassador Fang Qui.
He said, “His Excellency Ambassador Fang Qui has consistently shown his commitment to strengthening the diplomatic relations between China and Trinidad and Tobago and the friendship between our people.
“Thousands of our Burgesses of Chaguanas have been adversely affected as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and we have been actively engaged in outreach efforts. His Excellency’s generosity to the Burgesses of Chaguanas is undoubtedly well received and greatly appreciated.”
Mohammed added, “I am certain that these food hampers will ease the burden of these families as we navigate through this difficult period. I look forward to continue working with the Embassy in the future and hope to further collaborate on initiatives that are geared towards the promotion of trade, commerce and culture.”
