A 38-year-old man is in police custody after a four-year-old girl was beheaded on Monday night.
Police said Amarah Lallitte was found at a house on Fifth Street, Arouca, after a woman made a report of abuse to the Arouca Police Station.
The woman told police that she was beaten by a man known to her and that he had taken the child hostage. The woman’s clothes were ripped and she bore marks of violence.
When officers visited the scene they found the child’s head in one room and the rest of the body in another.
Officers under the supervision of Insp Pierre and Insp Joshua made the discovery. A team of officers led by Snr Sup Richard Smith also responded.
