A San Juan man has appeared in court for the murder of a five-year-old child.
Javon Fraser, 31, of San Juan was remanded into custody when he appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Monday.
He is charged with the August 30 murder of Shaquille Williams.
The matter was adjourned to October 16, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated in a release on Friday.
According to police reports, on August 30, the child was taken to the Paediatrics Accident and Emergency Department at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex by Emergency Medical Technicians.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Two Office, Arouca continued enquiries and a man was arrested on September 12.
Following advice received from Acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecution Jaglal Dougdeen, Fraser was charged with murder.
The investigation was supervised by ASP Victor, Inspector Ramjag (Legal Officer), Inspector Sylvester, Inspector Simon and Sgt Bennett.
