THE vaccination process continues to be a chaotic one in some vaccination venues.
On Wednesday, several persons showed up at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), Munroe Road vaccination site for 8am only to be given various instructions from different personnel.
AZPNews.com spoke to several persons who went to receive their second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine. They described the procedures as “ organised chaos.”
One person said, “Before it was just chaos. Now it is organised chaos.”
He said, “I received a call yesterday to come in for 8 ‘o’ clock for my vaccine. I inquired from the person if it was that all persons were being called to come in at that time and what will be the procedure. I was told to come in for eight and I will get sorted out. I showed up at around 7.35 and there were already many people there waiting.”
He continued, “I was told to wait in the car and there was a line of cars, some were out even on the road, the place which is fairly big was packed, there were about 200 to 300 cars there this morning. After some time waiting in the car, I saw two persons and I inquired from them what was happening. I was told, “you didn’t see a line by the tents, there?” So I went to join a line.”
The individual said persons were receiving differing instructions from different personnel on the outside and many elderly people who could barely walk, some with crutches had to wait for more than an hour to receive the shot.
However, he said once inside the building, processes went smoothly.
Another person also agreed that the chaos happened in the parking lot.
She said, “The staff inside was very helpful. When they started to move, they were doing well. The problem was on the outside when people simply did not know what to do.”
She too had an appointment for 8am and received different instructions.
Both persons added that although they had no evidence, it seemed as if some individuals were being favoured because they were meeting persons on the side, heading into the building and apparently being attended to while others had a long waiting time.
The North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA) is in charge of that vaccination site.
