A 32-year-old man from Chaguanas was due to appear virtually at the North A Criminal High Court today, after he was charged with murder.
Darren Seales, also called Scotty and Totti, of Carlsen Field, Chaguanas was charged after acting Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Sabrina Jaglal advised that the suspect be charged for the offence of Murder in connection to the death of a man who was beaten and burned in the Central Division.
According to police reports, around 11.30 pm on June 8, 2024, officers responded to a report of a wounding on Manic Street, Chaguanas, in the vicinity of the maxi taxi hub.
Upon arrival, the officers observed a burnt wheelchair on the ground, and discovered Perfector Edwards, also called “One Foot” lying on the ground nursing injuries.
Edwards was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility and then transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Science Complex for further treatment. On June 13, he succumbed to his injuries.
