THE Chaguanas Borough Corporation celebrates the Muslim holiday of Eid-ul-Fitr by lighting up the administrative building green.
Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed said it was done courtesy AV Concepts and Kevin Ramgoolam Tents and Events.
He said, “I do hope you enjoy this gesture and it adds cheer to your Eid.”
The mayor who is a practising Muslim said, “It’s another year that Eid is struck by Covid-19 and lockdown measures which means the Islamic Community of Trinidad and Tobago is unable to celebrate in Masjids and invite their family and friends over to join in Eid festivities.
“It must be noted that Islam teaches us that we must act responsible and obey the laws of the land. So it is very important for us to adhere to the guidelines and measures that is in place to safeguard ourselves, our family, our community and our country from this deadly virus. I know it’s difficult but we must be apart today to be closer tomorrow.”
