A YOUTUBE channel will be launched this week, focusing on Caribbean children.
The channel called “Bocas Storytime” begins streaming on April 30.
In a release on Monday, Bocas Lit Fest stated, “The channel will host a wide variety of fun videos for kids inspired by Caribbean writing, including book read-alouds, animated stories, author interviews, interactive sessions and more — all available on demand to keep our children engaged in Caribbean words, stories and ideas during screen-time.”
Bocas Lit Fest stated that it has adapted to better conform to the changes brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Our writers have risen to these many challenges, with a host of recent books that investigate ideas about change in every sphere and field — whether personal or collective, political or cultural. Through genres as diverse as fiction, poetry, and life-writing, contemporary Caribbean writers are courageously exploring the changes we are all living through, and the changes we need in order to create a more just society,” Bocas Lit Fest stated.
For this 12th annual festival, a special programme of four consecutive evenings, each with its own thematic focus, adding up to a bigger story of how ideas, stories, and words can change the world for the better, by focusing on some of the most vital books and authors of the past year will form the core of the festival.
The online festival is free and open to the public. Events will also be recorded and posted on social media pages for a limited period.
