WHILE over 17,000 pupils wrote the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) on Thursday, best wishes came from political parties and candidates mainly through social media.
Apart from Minister of Education Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, the political entities encouraged the children to do their best as the exam takes place in the height of the General Election season.

The People’s National Movement (PNM) on its Facebook page told the pupils, “To Our SEA Superstars. You’ve studied, sacrificed, and shown what you’re made of. Now it’s your time to shine. We believe in you. You’ve already done the hard work. Now go make the most of this moment. Stay calm. Stay focused. You got this. Wishing you success, confidence, and a bright road ahead. Onwards to the next chapter in your story!”

Opposition Leader and political leader of the United National Congress (UNC) Kamla Persad-Bissessar also issued wishes.
She posted, “To all the beautiful children writing the SEA exams, I want you to trust that your hard work and discipline will ultimately pay off. I congratulate you on reaching this far and I am very proud of every one of you. I know you will all do your absolute best in the exams which will always be more than enough.”
Political Leader of the National Transformation Alliance (NTA) Gary Griffith in a video message said to pupils, “I want you to know how proud we are of you. You’ve worked hard, you’ve sacrificed and now it’s your time to shine.”

He also said, “Remember, this exam does not define you, your courage, your character and your commitment to doing your best, that is what truly matters. I know it is a difficult period. I did it myself a few years ago. Breath, stay calm and give it your all. I believe in you. We all do and so does our entire nation. You’ve got this. Good luck and God bless.”

UNC candidate for San Fernando West and former principal of Naparima College Dr Michael Dowlath also wished the SEA pupils well.
He said, “I know how hard you have worked to reach this point. Long nights, early mornings and so much dedication. You have done your part. I want to say congratulations for making it this far. That alone is an achievement to be proud off.”
Dr Dowlath also said to the parents he was aware it was also a stressful and emotional journey for them.
“Thank you for standing for your children, guiding them and giving them your all. Now is that time to give them that love and encouragement they need more than ever.”
He called for continued support for the children beyond the SEA exam.
And PNM Candidate for Chaguanas East Richie Sookhai also sent out greetings to the Standard Five pupils.

“Wishing all the students across the nation the very best of luck as they sit the SEA exam! Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have brought you to this moment. Believe in yourselves, stay calm, and give it your all. We’re cheering you on – go shine bright and make yourselves proud! This is just the beginning,” he posted.
