THE Telecommunication Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT) will be reviewed by a five-member Sub-Cabinet Committee.
Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart Young made the announcement at the post-cabinet meeting on Thursday.
He said that Trinidad and Tobago had the majority ownership in TSTT with 51% while there was minority ownership of 49% by Cable and Wireless.
Young said, “A decision was taken by the Cabinet to appoint a Sub-Cabinet Committee to take a look at TSTT’s current position and what status are they in now.”
He added that the committee would also examine the revolution that has taken place and whether TSTT was fit for purpose, recommendations and the current market value of the company.
Young said the committee would include himself out of the Office of the Prime Minister and is being led by the Minister of Planning and Development Camille Robinson-Regis.
The other members include Minister of Public Utilities Marvin Gonzales, Minister of Digital Transformation Hassel Bacchus and Minister of Finance Colm Imbert.
