In a statement on Saturday, the TTPS stated that the incident has prompted a multi-unit investigation involving the TTPS’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Homicide Bureau, and several other specialised teams. The family of Kungebeharry was contacted with a ransom demand, but tragically, his body was discovered on Thursday at Pokhor Road, Longdenville.

Three suspects have been arrested, including two police officers and a civilian. Commissioner of Police Erla Harewood-Christopher expressed regret over the alleged involvement of law enforcement officers in such a heinous act.

She said, “This incident goes against every principle of the TTPS and threatens to erode public trust.”
