ROGER KAWALSINGH is the latest member of the Police Service Commission (PolSc) to tender in his resignation.
This means that chairman Bliss Seepersad is the currently the only member of the commission.
On Monday, correspondence from the Office of the President stated, “Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes ORTT, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, has today (Monday September 27) accepted the resignation with immediate effect of Mr. Roger Kawalsingh.”
Last Saturday, Dr Susan Craig-James became the second member of the PolSC to resign in less than a week.
On September 21, Courtney A McNish was the first to tender his resignation to President Paula-Mae Weekes.
It means that the commission now stands inquorate with only its chairman Bliss Seepersad. Three commissioners form a quorum.
A release from the Office of the President on Saturday stated the President will “make every effort” to fill the two recent vacancies.
The resignation of the three commissioners follows the filing of court matters against the PolSC in its handling of the selection of a Police Commissioner.
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley admitted there were errors in the process and Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar had called for the immediate resignation of the entire team.
