TOBAGO experienced a complete power outage on Wednesday at 10.21 pm.
The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) confirmed an incident at the Scarborough Substation in a release on Thursday.
Initial reports indicate that a bus bar fault occurred after maintenance work was completed on a power transformer at the substation. This fault triggered a series of events that led to a loss of generation at the Cove Power Station, resulting in a widespread blackout across the island.
T&TEC began restoration efforts within fifteen minutes of the outage. By 12.45 am, power was fully restored to all customers, the release stated.
