A bidder for the Petrotrin refinery at Pointe-a-Pierre is currently being evaluated says Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley.
In response to a question in Parliament on Monday, Dr Rowley said four bidders provided further proposals and a preferred bidder was selected.
Member of Parliament for Pointe-a-Pierre David Lee asked for an update regarding the purchase of the refinery.
Dr Rowley responded, “The four bidders were received and evaluated. After evaluation TPHL (Trinidad Petroleum Holdings Ltd) has identified a preferred bidder and is currently pursuing discussions with this entity. The process is ongoing.”
Minister of Energy Stuart Young had said that by the first week in April, four bidders should have provided revised proposals for the refinery.
He made the statements last month in Parliament also in response to questions from Lee who enquired of the status of the bids.
