THE Beyond the Tape television programme is being reviewed.
This was revealed by Police Commissioner Erla Harewood-Christopher after being pressed at a Joint Select Committee (JSC) on National Security on Wednesday.
Harewood-Christopher was asked by JSC member Dr Paul Richards about the show’s content, which he felt sometimes contradicted official statements by the police leadership.
Dr Richards pointed out the instances of disparity between the show’s narrative on gang activity and the TTPS’s stance.
Commissioner Harewood-Christopher admitted that the show’s messaging, at times, diverged from the executive’s position. The programme, which features acting Senior Superintendent Roger Alexander with TV host Marlan Hopkinson, is aired weekdays on CCN TV6.
The top cop said, “The show should be a replica of the thoughts and sentiments of the organisation’s executive.”
She said the show is being reviewed.
