A 50-year-old Barrackpore man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his common-law wife.
Ramesh Sieunarine, of Sukhan Trace, Barrackpore, appeared in the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, charged for the murder of Tricia Allison Ramsaran-Ramdass on June 9.
He surrendered to police last Wednesday and was charged for murder on Monday following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Joan Honore-Paul.
Ramsaran–Ramdass, 37, a sales clerk, also of Sukhan Trace, Barrackpore, allegedly got into an argument with a man known to her on Tuesday and was strangled and suffered head trauma.
Investigations were supervised by Inspector Allister Jones and Superintendent Sean Dhillpaul, both of Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region 3. The accused was formally charged by WPC Callender-Sinclair.
