Barbados Newspaper Photographer Killed

BARBADOS –  A photographer attached to the Nation newspaper in Barbados has been killed while on the job on Monday.

The newspaper reported that he was responding to a report that a man was killed at Bishop’s Court Hill in St Michael.

The report noted that the photographer was attacked and killed.

The newspaper reported that the incident happened at the abandoned residence of the Anglican Bishop of Barbados. Workers were on the job.

It also reported that Bishop Michael Maxwell was at the scene.

It did not release the name of the photographer.

And in an immediate response the Association of Caribbean Media Workers expressed its condemnation.

It stated:

The Association of Caribbean Media Workers shares the shock and grief of family members, friends and colleagues of Barbados Nation photographer Christoff Griffith who was killed while on duty earlier today.

The ACM condemns this and all other ruthless forms of attacks on journalists and the media throughout the world.

This incident highlights the vulnerability of media professionals and calls for greater vigilance by all when out in the field.

We call for swift action in apprehending the perpetrator responsible.
