RESIDENTS are again experiencing an inconsistent water supply due to weather conditions affecting the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) facilities.
WASA in a release on Saturday stated that several of their plants were impacted especially in north Trinidad.
WASA stated, “Persistent rainfall activity in Northeast Trinidad and Tobago continues to impact operations at some of the Authority’s Surface Water Treatment facilities. Conditions are constantly being monitored in order to return these facilities to operation in the shortest possible time.”
The facility at Guapo was affected due to a power failure from fallen tree branches on electricity lines. The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) was advised of the incident, WASA stated.
In North Oropouche there is a reduced production due to turbid river conditions and in Cumuto , there are works in progress on a broken raw water main.
In northwest Trinidad, five facilities are impacted due to river conditions.
And in Tobago, two facilities at Richmond and Highlands Road are affected due to river conditions.
WASA stated that the river conditions were being assessed to commence clean-up works.
