PRESIDENT of the Tobago Business Chamber and attorney Martin George is on $150,000 bail for sexual assault charges.
On Wednesday High Court Judge Master Indira Chinebas granted George , 58, bail when he appeared to answer for charges of grievous sexual assault and indecent assault.
George was not called upon to plead to the charges before him.
Conditions of his bail, ordered him to stay at least 500 feet away from the alleged female victim and prohibited from all contact with her.
On Tuesday, George, a former member of the Police Service Commission, was arrested at his Port of Spain office, Martin George and Company.
The charges stem from a report of grievous sexual assault and indecent assault made to the police on March 22, 2025.
A press release on Wednesday from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated that an exercise was conducted between 2.40 pm and 5 pm on Tuesday.
It stated that during the exercise, officers proceeded to Dundonald Street, Port of Spain, where they met with a male suspect. The officers identified themselves and informed the man that they were investigating a report of grievous sexual assault and indecent assault that took place at that address.
George was then arrested and taken to the Besson Street Police Station, where he was formally charged with the offences.
The operation was coordinated by Snr Supt Thom, Supt Baird, and ASP Mungroo, and directly supervised by Insp Durga, Sgt Bhagwandeen, Sgt Masleir, Cpl Purcell, W A/CPL Ashby, along with PC Rambaran and other officers attached to the CID Area East.
